sonic music musings
as of 02/12/2024, the directory playlist has been MOVED over to HERE.
in april of 2012, i started a special little music project called "sonic music musings"--a blog where i would post a music track from the sonic the hedgehog franchise every day, and talk a little about it. it was partially out of spite--a then popular sonic music blog suddenly deactivated that day, and as i loved it so much, i decided to take up the mantel. i was still in music college, so my analysis chops were on point. i gained a following and started taking requests. i even did a radio stream series!
as it goes, things change, i had less time, and i gradually started updating less and less. i slowed down at the end of 2013, and made a minor comeback in the front half of 2015, celebrating the blog's birthday in between. a couple posts of housekeeping in 2017. and then... in august 2023, i decided to make good on the housekeeping i had promised. so i reposted some old tracks with new audio. and then i posted new stuff from my drafts! and now requests are open! a small comeback nearly a decade later. the blog is not nearly as popular as it was in its heyday (i think tumblr's search and less saturation in the current sonic community at large plays a part), but i enjoy doing it.
in an effort to preserve the blog beyond the blog, i will be posting static commentary over here. tumblr won't last forever as we've said for the last 5-7 years, and hey, talking about music is my sorta thing. so it will live on my website! happy listening and reading!
